Welcome to the new Matt Ruff website

I am the author of five novels, including Fool on The Hill (1988), Sewer, Gas & Electric: The Public Works Trilogy (1997), Set This House in Order: A Romance of Souls (2003), and Bad Monkeys (2007). My new novel, The Mirage, will be published by HarperCollins in February 2012.
As longtime visitors will already have noticed, I’ve recently converted the site to a WordPress installation. I’m still tinkering with the theme, and deciding what material to keep from the old version of the site and what new stuff to add. During this shakedown period, things are apt to change without notice, but the new navigation bar should keep you from getting lost.
For now, the individual novel pages contain links to much of the old site content, and the Odds & Ends tab will take you to an updated version of the old “Unpublished works and ephemera” page. There’s also a new blog, with a sidebar containing links to my Facebook, GoodReads, and Twitter accounts, as well as my soon-to-be-defunct LiveJournal blog.
Information about the upcoming Mirage book tour will be posted on the appearances page as it becomes available. The contact page has an email address that you can use, among other things, to let me know if you notice anything on the site that isn’t working properly. An expanded version of the about me section will be coming soon.
